The Kimball Protestant Parish is a unique church that grew out of three separate denominations joining forces to form this community-welcoming ministry. Our three core denominations are Global Methodist Church, Presbyterian USA and Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. Parishioners can also now choose to join the membership of Kimball Protestant Parish.

A group of individuals voted upon by church members comprise the Church Council and they conduct the business of the church. Current Church Council members are President Paul Dorwart, Charlene Miller, Deb Pazour, DaLayne Spier, Ginny Wookey, and Megan Miller. We appreciate their time and effort keeping KPP an active and contributing organization of our community.

We are located on the northwest side of Kimball in a church building constructed in 2003. Within the building are busy and friendly people who serve the Lord in countless ways. All of our worshipers and members are ministers in many ways, and our Pastor, Derek Runge, is our guide. Together we serve Christ.

Our Pastor
Pastor Derek was born and raised in Fort Pierre, SD. He graduated from Stanley County High School in May 2008. Attended and graduated from the University of Sioux Falls earning a Bachelor of Arts in Theology and Philosophy in May 2015. He completed his Master of Divinity from Sioux Falls Seminary in May 2020 and is finishing his Doctorate in Ministry from Sioux Falls Seminary.
Pastor Derek enjoys the outdoors hunting, fishing, and camping. He enjoys spending time with family and friends especially his two dogs, Rusty and Koda, who are Sheltie Collies. Outside of ministry at the Kimball Protestant Parish, Pastor Derek is a volunteer Chaplain / Pastor for Prison Lighthouse Fellowship in Sioux Falls, SD at the Maximum-Security Unit, and Mike Durfee State Prison in Springfield, SD with Livingstone Prison Church.
Pastor Derek is involved in the community of Kimball. As a member of the Kimball Chamber of Commerce, president of the Kimball Community Theatre, and an Actor for the Community Theatre. He has been working with the Kimball High School One Act plays.
